Match Report 5/24/2011

What a match today! I want to come out and say, "It was great fun!"

Gren Acres Football club gave a great effort during our opening match. Some goofball on Corktown scored their first goal within the first five minutes. It's always bad to concede a goal to the opposition within the first five minutes. With that, everything could have really gone "pear shaped" from there? It did not. Green Acres Football Club came back, off of a throw in deep in the Corktown half, with a well driven shot underneath the keeper from 6 yards, to the left side netting from Tom Seley (1). Well done Son!
Some goofball from Corktown scored a second just before halftime. Nobody cares about that though.

Half-Time GAFC 1-2 Corktown

After the start of the second half, Corktown were pressuring very hard. We did well to hold them at bay. then, I saw this guy, I really should have come back for cover. I chose not to. I was hoping I would get a bounce or something on the offensive end. He wouldn't have scored if I marked him. I didn't mark him and he scored. "Putain du merde!" 3-1. I'm sorry y'all! Of course that's how things go down. On the counter attack midway through the hsecond half, Michael Scamardella pressured a Corktown goofball so hard he took a dive like the Portugeezer, nani of Manchester United. Needless to say, said goofball, coughed up the ball and Michael was left with open space the size of the Louisisna Purchase. Michael quickly noticed his vast space and time and passed it into the box to Tom Seley. Tom took the ball, controlled it, turned the defender and struck the goal between the keeper's legs (2). Full disclosure, I thought the goal was lost after his first touch, I was wrong! OLE! Green Acres Football Club and Corktown were at a 3-2. Corktown were attacking relentlessly. Our defense was a good as could have been expected. We held strong through the attacks. Good Stuff, all in all!
